Witnesses heard the horrifying explosions and police have confirmed both blasts took place.
Hashmat Stanekzai, a spokesman for the Kabul Police chief, declared the first bomber was on a motorbike while the second launched the attack on foot.
The second bomber stood among reporters that gathered at the scene of the first incident.
The initial explosion took place in the Shashdarak area of the city.
At least 20 people have been wounded in the attack.
Police officer Jan Agha detailed that a journalist was killed in the second blast.
The second explosion was heard shortly after the first – exact details of the incident are unknown.
Mohammad Asim, the chief of the Kabul ambulance service, detailed that three people were killed and six were wounded in the first blast while the second killed the journalist and wounded two police officers.
The event comes shorty after another blast killed 60 people in a western area of the city.
Security officials have warned of increasing attacks in Kabul and across other parts of the Middle East nation before parliament elections set to take place in October.
