WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD – Do not read on if you have yet to see Avengers: Infinity War.
The movie ended with a huge load of characters being killed off, after Thanos collected all of the Infinity Stones and finally executed the Snap.
The dead included Peter Parker, Peter Quill, Mantis, Drax, King T’Challa, Bucky Barnes, Sam Wilson, Wanda Maximoff and even, in a post-credits scene, Nick Fury.
Given that characters such as the Guardians Of The Galaxy, Spider-Man and Black Panther all have more movies planned, it seemed highly likely that at least some – if not all – of them will return in Avengers 4.
Now, there appears to be proof.
Speaking in an interview last year around the release of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Amy Pascal – producer – confirmed that the recently rebooted character’s own sequel will start in the immediate aftermath of Avengers 4.
“What I think we should focus on is this Spider-Man who started in Civil War and then has this movie, and then will be in the Avengers movie,” she said last summer, according to Fandom.
“And we are starting now the next one which will start a few minutes after Avengers 4 wraps as a story.”
Which means it’s a nigh-on certainty that Parker will be among those brought back in the next movie.
There are also theories speculating about how Gamora could make her return, although there’s a lot less optimism around Tom Hiddleston’s Loki.
Characters thought to be joining the fun next time around include Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) and Hawk-Eye (Jeremy Renner) – who was completely MIA in Infinity War.
Additionally, Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) is thought to be suiting-up as Rescue in the sequel, while it was also heavily rumoured that Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter will feature in some way.
Generally there are a lot of questions that need answering – and still over a year to go before we’ll know the truth.
Avengers: Infinity War is out now.
