The chamber’ Women’s Initiative Network committee organizes the awards luncheon each year.

Award-winning radio personality Amanda Valentine emceed the event, and public speaker, author and owner of Shine by Design Anne Tabor served as the keynote speaker.

Sheila Hinton, Clermont County YMCA executive director, was named Business Woman of the Year.

“I’m very excited; I had no idea that I was going to get this,” she said. “It’s going to challenge me to think about doing more as a vehicle of the YMCA.”

Other winners were Robin Throckmorton, owner of strategicHR, Inc., which was named Woman Owned Business of the Year, and Chelsie Hornsby, HealthSource of Ohio senior development officer, who was awarded Young Professional of the Year.

Throckmorton said, “I did not prepare a speech because I knew I’d be speechless.”

“I’m very humbled and honored to be up here among 11 great other women (nominees) here today,” said Throckmorton. “And just looking around the room, it’s not just those of us who are on the list, there’s a number of really strong women leaders here in the room.”

She added, “I’d like to thank the Clermont Chamber of Commerce for providing events and programs like this, to help recognize women, because we need those opportunities.”

Throckmorton said that women need to help each other succeed.

“We can’t just sit back and wait for it to happen,” she said.

Hornsby expressed her excitement about receiving an award.

“Surrounding ourselves with other strong women, and I know so many people in this room, I am so, so honored to be able to call many of you friends that I see on a regular basis,” she said.
