The tremor was recorded at a depth of 100km.

It was located 67 km southwest of Guatemala City, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre said.

The quake was also felt in neighbouring El Salvador, according to reports.

It comes only two weeks after the eruption of the Fuego volcano, leaving dozens dead, injured, or missing.

At least 110 people died and 197 people are still missing following the explosion.

Some survivors of the volcano lost all members of their family in the lava, ash and gas.

Three days of national mourning were held after the eruption.
