Liverpool transfer news: Naby Keita arrives on Merseyside for first time | Football | Sport

The midfielder agreed to join Jurgen Klopp’s side last summer but remained at RB Leipzig for last season.

But these pictures show the 23-year-old arriving on Merseyside for the first time.

Keita was dropped off by a silver people carrier in Liverpool as he gets ready to be unveiled by the club.

Liverpool have already kicked off their summer recruitment drive following the disappointment of losing the Champions League final.

Fabinho was signed the week after but a deal for Nabil Fekir collapsed on the eve of the World Cup.

Keita and Fabinho are likely to form a partnership in midfield alongside the likes of Jordan Henderson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Emre Can has already made way to Juventus and more deals are expected to be closed out in the coming weeks.

Liverpool are set to Xhedran Shaqiri from Stoke and are working on a new goalkeeper.

But Keita’s arrival for £52m will be one of the headlines of the summer and he is set to join up with Clop’s side for pre season training at Melwood on July 2 and could then make his debut against Chester on July 7.

He scored six goals in his final season in Germany as RB Leipzig finished sixth and missed out on the Champions League.

Sadio Mane is excited to join up with his close friend.

“I know him well,” Mane said.

“He’s more than a friend, he’s a brother. We already played with each at RB Salzburg (in 2013-14). We often speak on the phone.

“He’ll be very welcome. He’s a talented player who’s going to bring a lot to Liverpool.”
