Get ready to sing all the Abba tunes you didn’t know you knew the words to, as Mamma Mia is back in cinemas.

When is Mamma Mia 2 out?

Thusly, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again is in UK and USA cinemas on Friday, July 20.

The first Mamma Mia! received massive praise from audiences, but mixed reviews from critics.

The Mamma Mia sequel movie picks up ten years after the first Mamma Mia in 2008.

The original Mamma Mia followed an independent hotelier Donna (played by Meryl Streep) preparing for her daughter’s wedding in the Greek islands.

IMDB describes the plot to the first Mamma Mia: “Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) secretly invites three men from her mother’s past in hope of meeting her real father and having him escort her down the aisle on her big day.”

Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! returns to the Greek island in 2018, some ten years later.

On the Greek island of Kalokairi, Sophie is pregnant with Sky’s (Dominic Cooper) child while running her mother’s villa.

Sophie is worried she can’t handle the pregnancy without her mother around.

However, she has Tanya (Christine Baranski) and Rosie (Julie Walters) to guide her.

With their help, Sophie will find out more of Donna’s past.

Mamma Mia 2 follows how Donna fronted The Dynamos and came to start up her villa on the island.

The sequel will also describe how Donna met each of Sophie’s dads (Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård, and Colin Firth), how she raised her daughter.

Sophie also gets a surprise visit from someone she had not invited or even met: her grandmother, Ruby Sheridan.

Here We Go Again will feature three ABBA songs “When I Kissed the Teacher,” “I Wonder (Departure),” and “Angel Eyes.”

Mamma Mia 2 filming wrapped on December 2, 2017.
