- Meghan Markle and Queen Elizabeth II seemed to be getting on well in recent pictures.
- But do they show a truthful picture of the Duchess of Sussex’s relationship with the Queen?
- Meghan married Prince Harry, the Queen’s grandson and sixth-in-line to the British throne, on 19 May this year.
- Now a royal insider has given their verdict on whether the Queen and Meghan get on well.
LATEST UPDATE: Thursday 28 June, 1:33pm
Meghan Markle recently flouted a royal rule at Buckingham Palace.
Meghan sat with her legs crossed on the left hand side of her husband. The crossing of the legs is a seating position rarely adopted by royals.
In fact a special form of sitting without the legs crossed has even been dubbed “the Duchess slant” – named after Kate Middleton.

Meghan Markle wore a pink skirt suit as she sat beside the Queen at last Tuesday’s Buckingham Palace reception.
The Queen’s Young Leaders is a programme to “find exceptional young people” from across the Commonwealth.
Meghan wore a powder pink dress much like the one she donned for the Trooping the Colour.
The dress, which a 50s twist, had large buttons and a belt in a matching hue to the dress.

Earlier this month, the Queen honoured Meghan by inviting her to accompany her on a trip to Cheshire. They were pictured giggling together as they sat side by side at a royal engagement.
Meghan has also attended two further events, Ascot and the Queen Young Leader’s Awards, with the Queen in the past week. But are they close?
The insider revealed Meghan has a “close, warm” relationship with the British monarch.
“She has developed an increasingly close, warm relationship with [both] the queen and her father-in-law, Prince Charles,” the source told Entertainment Daily.
“She wants to please them and is doing whatever she can to educate herself to make sure she doesn’t put a foot wrong.”
Speaking after Meghan’s appearance at the Queen’s Young Leaders Awards, the source said Meghan looked relaxed.
“Last night she was completely at ease with the queen,” the source said.
The source also spoke about Meghan’s present and future royal duties. “Meghan has been anxious to jump in and learn as much as possible. She’s ready to work as much as she can on as many projects as they will allow.
Yesterday, it was revealed what Meghan always carries now she is a Duchess.
Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, was pictured on Tuesday night carrying a certain item she rarely sported before she entered the royal family.
She carried a clutch bag, known as the Prada Convertible Leather clutch. The high end designer bag costs an eye watering £1,918.
There is a special reason Meghan, who used to carry all sorts of handbags, now carries exclusively clutches at public appearances.
It represents her transformation from an ordinary person to a “member of royalty”, said a royal expert.
“I suspect that when Meghan was an actress and not a member of royalty, she kept money, make-up, and the kitchen sink in her cross-body bags – as we all do,” Penny Junor told Harper’s Bazaar UK.
“Now that she is a duchess, she doesn’t need anything more useful than lipstick, and possibly her phone.”
