Cardi B has revealed she married fellow rapper Offset nine months ago, with a spontaneous wedding with “no dress, no make-up and no ring”.
The 25-year-old star, who is expecting the couple’s first child this summer, shared the news on Twitter.
She told fans: “There are so many moments that I share with the world and then there are moments that I want to keep for myself. Getting married was one of those moments!”
She went on: “Our relationship was so new – breaking up and making up – and we had a lot of growing up to do; but we were so in love we didn’t want to lose each other.”
“We found someone to marry us, and she did, just the two of us and my cousin. I said I do, with no dress no make-up and no ring!”
She explained that the wedding took place in Atlanta in September on the same day as the proposal.
Somewhat confusingly, the pair announced their engagement onstage during a concert in Philadelphia the following month.
Suspicions were raised at last week’s BET awards, when Offset, 26, thanked his “wife” when accepting the award for best group as part of the rap trio Migos.
Their marriage certificate was later published on website TMZ, showing the couple – whose real names are Belcalis Almanzar and Kiari Cephus – tied the knot on 20 September in Atlanta.
Teasing her followers on Twitter, Cardi B finished her post by saying they could now “stop saying I had a baby out of wedlock” and thanked her husband for giving her “that special moment that every girl dreams of”.
