Members of the Royal Family are known for keeping their private life to themselves. But as the world evolves, so has the monarchy, with many of its members occasionally taking to social media to share glimpses from their home life. Even the Queen has uploaded a photo to Instagram, as she opened the new Smith Centre by sharing an archive image on the Royal Family’s Instagram account @RoyalFamily in March. Here are five times the Royal Family shared behind-the-scenes footage from their home life.
Prince William and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge
It’s hard to forget the adorable photo of Prince George dressed in his pyjamas as he met former US President Barack Obama and wife Michelle.
But the pictures showing Prince George shaking hands with Mr Obama also gave fans a unique look inside the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Kensington Palace home.
The photo was taken in the living room, which showed beige carpets, plants and books in the background.
Although not shared by the Duchess of Sussex personally, fans got a glimpse of her home life when her close friend and makeup artist Daniel Martin visited Kensington Palace in January.
Mr Martin shared a snap of the pair eating avocado on toast and drinking tea, and thanked Meghan for being the “avocado toast whisperer”.
The picture showed the food being served on silver platters and a teapot from Soho House’s homeware line.
Princess Eugenie is the only royal with a personal Instagram account.
During Trooping the Colour in 2018, the princess published a rare photo from inside Buckingham Palace, with her father, Prince Andrew wearing his Grenadier Guards Uniform.
The photo showed one of the palace’s many corridors, painted in a mint green colour, with a red carpet along the centre of the wooden floor.
Artwork and sculptures were also showcased.
Sarah Ferguson recently shared a selfie at what is believed to be her home in an Instagram post.
The Duchess of York was posting to launch a new charity campaign in April, but managed to give royal fans a sneak peek of her home at the same time.
The room had a green sofa and a wooden table and the big windows revealed a beautiful garden outside.
Ahead of Christmas in 2018, Prince Andrew, the Duke of York shared a photo of his office at Buckingham Palace.
Prince Andrew had placed a huge Christmas tree decorated with blue lights next to his windows.
On the duke’s official Twitter account, it said: “It’s beginning to look a lot like #Christmas in The Duke of York’s Office at Buckingham Palace!”
The snap also revealed massive red curtains, a red sofa and red floors – wonder what the duke’s favourite colour might be?
