Conor McGregor vs Khabib Nurmagomedov moving forward
Negotiations to see Conor McGregor take on Khabib Nurmagomedov are heading in the right direction, according to former UFC star Chael Sonnen.
“According to Khabib, who is a pretty straight guy, he says they are in talks with Conor and they appear to be, at this point, moving forward. That just makes the most sense,” Sonnen said in a recent video on his Youtube channel.
“They can’t go to Tony. We’re not sliding Tony – he’s out.
“He’s got an injury that can take him anywhere from six to eight months to get back. And that’s just rehab. We’re not talking about fighting. Conor has got some red tape.”
Ronda Rousey hits back at critics
Ronda Rousey has defended her radio silence after her devastating UFC 207 loss to Amanda Nunes, claiming it’s a ‘privilege’ for the media and fans to hear her speak.
“We live in an age of trial by Twitter,” Rousey told Peter Berg during a media event to promote her upcoming film.
“What is really gained by stating opinion on anything? It whittles people down. It gets cut and pasted 10 times and it’s in (a) headline.
“(Famous people) keep more and more of it to themselves. Why should I talk? I believe hearing me speak is a privilege, and it’s a privilege that’s been abused, so why not revoke it from everyone?
“I don’t believe public criticism beating you down is the right thing to do.”
Colby Covington on Khabib Nurmagomedov potentially moving up to welterweight
UFC middleweight standout Colby Covington reckons new lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov would get dominated if he was to move up to the welterweight division.
“He couldn’t even finish a real estate agent,” Covington said of Nurmagomedov during an appearance on MMA Junkie Radio.
“That’s s**t sad. ”That s**t doesn’t fly at welterweight.
“You’ve got a real All-American wrestler, not some sambo dude.
“So if he comes up to welterweight, he’s going to get his head dunked and balls put on his forehead just like the rest of them.”
