The Cape Coral Police Department is investigating the death of a woman who was found dead in a vehicle Thursday.

While an officer was on a traffic stop at Del Prado Boulevard and Savona Parkway, a vehicle pulled up behind the officer’s patrol car, according to Master Sgt. Patrick O’Grady.

The driver of that vehicle approached the officer, saying his girlfriend was sick.

When the officer checked on the woman, he saw she was dead, O’Grady said.

A Major Crimes detective and forensic specialist responded to the scene, and the medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
