Renfroe Appoints New CEO

E.A. Renfroe & Co. has appointed Gerrad Brigham, formerly chief executive officer of Eberl Claims Service, as president.

Brigham worked for Eberl for 26 years, including ten years as the company’s chief executive, Renfroe said in a press release. He left that position in September 2018. According to his Linkedin page, he continued working in the insurance industry as founder of Nascent Horizons, an investment advisory firm, and as principal of ClaimSavvy, a claims administration firm.

Chief Executive Officer Gene Renfroe said Brigham is well-known ability to grow and innovate within the claims industry.The announcement comes just two months after another former Eberl executive, Jason Wilson, was hired by Renfroe for client operations, the company said in a press release.

Renfroe, headquartered in Birmingham, Ala., provides claims administration and support services nationally.

Crawford Appoints Legal Services President

Jason Spencer

Crawford & Company has appointed Jason Spencer as global president of its Legal Services division. He will report to President Joseph Blanco.

Spencer is responsible for operational delivery, strategy and growth within the legal sector, the Atlanta-based claims administrator said in a press release.

Spencer joined Crawford in 2016 from private practice to set up Crawford Legal Services in the United Kingdom. He was instrumental in Crawford’s acquisition of HBA Group in Australia, and since the recent acquisition of Crawford Carvallo in Chile, he is developing Crawford’s legal capability in a number of other territories, the company said.

Prior to joining Crawford, Spencer was a senior partner with national and international law firms and a leader in the development and launch of legal and business solutions, the company said.

Sedgwick Appoints Fraud Leader

Sedgwick has appointed Gordon Young as head of fraud data and insight.

Sedgwick, an international claims services firm based in Memphis, Tenn.,said in a press release that the appointment will build on its counter-fraud stategy. Sedgwick said it has invested in artificial intelligence technology and became an affiliate member of the Insurance Fraud Bureau, effective April 1.

“We believe in the power of the collective when it comes to tackling fraud and protecting our clients’ genuine customers from the cost of fraud,” stated Ian Carman, director of investigation services at Sedgwick.

Young will focus on ensuring that Sedgwick’s clients are provided with trend analysis and insight. He has more than 25 years of experience in fraud intelligence, investigation and prevention.

Young is based in Newcastle on Tyne, England, according to his Linkedin page. Prior to joining Sedgwick, he was the head of counter fraud insight at RSA, a multinational general insurance company.
