A couple who was bird watching in a field in Cape Coral were attacked by two unleashed dogs named Thanos and Nico on Friday.
At 11:30 a.m. Lee County Animal Services responded to the 1200 block of NW 25th Terrace after they received a call from Cape Coral police who were on the scene for a dog bite, according to an animal services report.
The victims, Sharon Ayling and Tom Mitchell, told Animal Services that they were bird watching when they saw six dogs running at large in an adjacent field. The dogs started barking at them and two of the dogs charged at them.
The dogs came at Ayling hard enough to knock her down, and Mitchell covered her with himself to try and shield her from the dogs, the report states.
Ayling and Mitchell sustained multiple bite wounds, but did not want to pursue with citations, stating the owners were quick to break up the attack and seemed remorseful.
The dogs’ owners, Paul and Ashley Hammons were issued a dangerous dog form.
Animal services continues to investigate this incident.
