COVID-19 in Lee County: State reports 306 new cases, five additional deaths

FGCU is giving COVID tests to students, faculty and staff before Thanksgiving break. The tests are self-administered, and the results should be in within a few days.

The Florida Department of Health on Saturday reported 306 new cases of COVID-19 in Lee County and five additional deaths.     

Lee’s total number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 stands at 561. The new cases increased the county’s cumulative number to 27,891.

According to the state Department of Health, 1,714 people in Lee County have been hospitalized for COVID-19 since it started collecting data, but that number does not reflect people currently in the hospital.   

The health department is not reporting how many people have recovered from COVID-19.
