Lee County: When to Call 911 (and When NOT To)
Many requests to 911 do not involve true emergencies, which overloads the 911 system with non-emergency calls.

A jury convicted a Fort Myers man of numerous drug offenses Thursday, including selling drugs near a school in the Dunbar community, according to a release from the State Attorney’s Office.
Jermaine Otis Dampier, 40, was found guilty of two counts of sale or delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of cocaine with intent to sell or deliver and possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell or deliver following a two-day jury trial in Lee County.
Dampier sold Eutylone and crack cocaine to an undercover Fort Myers Police Department detective on July 31, 2019, near Franklin Park Elementary School.

A senior crime laboratory analyst with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement testified at trial that Eutylone is what is known as a substituted cathinone, which is a controlled substance. The synthetic stimulant is in the same class as bath salts.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 21.
