So you’ve had a crash, what now?

So you’ve been in a crash, here’s what you should do.

A 47-year-old Fort Myers male motorcyclist was killed Tuesday night in a crash on Summerlin Road near Bass Road.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the man was riding his motorcycle east on Summerlin approaching Bass shortly after 6:30 p.m. and a second vehicle, an SUV driven by a 60-year-old Fort Myers Beach woman, was traveling west on Summerlin.

The FHP said the motorcyclist drove off the roadway through the grass median and into Summerlin’s westbound lanes.

The motorcyclist lost control and was thrown from the bike onto the west lanes of Summerlin.

The FHP said the second driver did not see the motorcyclist in the roadway and hit him. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet, investigators said.

The crash remains under investigation. The death was the 87th fatality on Lee County roads in 2020.
