A pontoon boat crash on a lake in Cape Coral claimed a boater’s life Wednesday afternoon.

A Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman said the report of the incident on Alhambra Lake came in shortly after 5:30 p.m.

The vessel, an 18-foot pontoon boat, was being operated on plane within the lake when it struck a dock and the operator was ejected, FWC public information officer Adam Brown said.

More coverage:

Emergency services were dispatched to the scene but the operator died from the injuries.

The incident continues under investigation by the FWC. The identity of the operator was not released.
