While the liberal media and educational institutions continue to promote and teach transgenderism to our children, biological females face a new threat – competing against biological males in athletic competitions. President Biden recently commented that a child as young as eight years old could transition and become transgender without facing discrimination. I continue to fight for the rights of all and stand firmly against discrimination. However, it is crucial to consider how specific policies directly impact the community, and in this case, our women’s sports. For example, I took a strong stand against the Lee County School Board in allowing biological males and females to use opposite bathroom facilities at school and gender-fluid locker rooms; I will continue to be vocal against these destructive policies. Liberal transgender propaganda continues to threaten our nation, our school children, and our women’s sports in the name of “equality” – I will always stand against it.

This month, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed SB 1028, the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act. This bill preserves the integrity of sports for female athletes and allows them to compete based on their strength and skills without the threat of biological males competing against them. The bill specifies that students of the male sex, based upon official birth certificate documentation, cannot compete in female sports. This vital legislation will ensure we protect female athletes in Florida; it goes beyond protecting physical competition but provides future protections under the law, such as athletic college scholarships. Supporting this bill is supporting feminism. The left supports women taking a stand for their rights and exercising their voice when confronted with injustices. This legislation does just that. It is supporting women’s success and achievements. It is protecting our young girls from unequal treatment. It is actively promoting female accomplishments.

Whether an individual takes hormones, undergoes sex-change surgeries, or identifies as the opposite sex — their chromosomes remain the same. The bottom line is you cannot change x and y chromosomes; there is no question, no debate — this is a scientific fact. This, in turn, results in physical strength differences between males and females. Therefore, females should not have to compete against a male that possesses a physical advantage over them. Despite this, the left refuses to face the facts about the consequences of transgender ideology entering athletics.

Allowing biological males to compete against females is unjust and the opposite of equality; equality ensures women compete on an equal playing field against other women. If the left truly cared about equality and women’s rights, they would ban biological males from playing in female athletics. Unfortunately, liberals are passionate about these issues only when they promote their extremist agenda.

But the truth is, the left doesn’t care about equality — they care about control. Their promotion of transgender ideology and Critical Race Theory has revealed they care more about appearance than about character and science.

We’ve learned throughout the COVID-19 pandemic that the radical left is not the party of science. They have proven once, and for all, they do not “trust the science,” despite constantly praising and defending the so-called “trusted” scientists like Dr. Fauci, who have lost all credibility.

Governor DeSantis made clear that the State of Florida is “going to go based off biology, not based off ideology when we’re doing sports.” While Republicans pass legislation based on reason and science, the Democrats continue to play identity politics.

I urge my colleagues in both the Democratic and Republican parties to follow Florida’s lead in passing legislation to protect our female athletes. I will always fight to ensure America remains equal and free under the law.

Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL).
