A Cape Coral man was killed Wednesday and a Lehigh Acres man was injured in the crash of a car and a tractor-trailer rig on State Road 29 in Collier County.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the 59-year-old Cape Coral man was driving a car south on S.R. 29, north of Oil Well Road, and a 53-year Lehigh Acres man was northbound driving the tractor-trailer about 6 p.m.

Troopers reported the driver of the car failed to maintain a single lane and entered the northbound lane of travel, colliding with the front of the truck.

The car’s driver, not wearing a seat belt, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck caught fire, and the driver suffered minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
