LSCO investigates early morning homicide in Fort Myers

Lee County Sheriff’s Office investigate a reported shooting on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, which killed one victim and placed another in the hospital.

An early Saturday shooting left one dead and another injured, Lee County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Deputies had shut down College Parkway from Whiskey Creek Drive to Winkler Road in Fort Myers  for hours as the agency conducted a shooting investigation.

Deputies responded to the 8200 block of College Parkway where they located a vehicle with two victims inside, the sheriff’s office reported.

The victims were taken to a local hospital where one was pronounced dead.

Detectives said it is a homicide.

Major Crimes Unit detectives were called to investigate the incident, according to an LCSO news release.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
