LeBron James reveals plans for retirement: ‘It is my responsibility to do it’ | Other | Sport

James signed a four-year contract with Los Angeles Lakers in July after leaving Cleveland Cavaliers following back-to-back NBA Finals defeats.

The small forward is now hoping to help a young Lakers side challenge the top teams in the upcoming campaign.

But a time will come when the 33-year-old must decide to call time on his illustrious career.

And James knows exactly what will be in store for him as he plans to travel the world to spread the love of basketball and NBA to every corner of the globe.

“I will continue to do what I am doing now,” James told beIN Sports when asked about life after basketball.

“I will travel across the world, being in my community and speaking about the game.

“Speaking the knowledge about whatever it is the youth wants to hear that they feel like they need to hear.

“What I am doing now is now just something for now, it is about longevity and it is what my passion is.

“It is what I know and what I believe in so I will always still be around the game and giving back to the game.

“I have a lot of knowledge about it and it is my responsibility to do it.”

James also revealed that he will be involved in a number of upcoming films with the first one being released later this month.

“There are a few scripts getting written right now but I don’t want to talk about it too much,” he added.

“You can look forward to seeing me on the big screen.

“Actually I’m in an animated movie coming out soon called Smallfoot so it is coming out this month – September 28.”

James is expected to make his Lakers debut in the opening preseason game against Denver Nuggets on October 1.

His league debut is expected to arrive during the first match against Portland Trail Blazers on October 19.
