To the Editor:
Earlier this year, RiseVT program manager Andrea Malinowski and I partnered to apply for a grant called the Amplify Grant.
RiseVT helps to support and embrace healthy lifestyles throughout several different counties within Vermont. Through the Amplify Grant, RiseVT financially supports community partners who also embrace healthy lifestyles. GMRSVP supports healthy lifestyles through volunteer opportunities as well as Bone Builders classes. The volunteer opportunities that GMRSVP offers not only have a positive impact on the community, but positively impact the volunteers themselves by providing them with both mental and physical benefits. GMRSVP of Bennington County has 12 locations in which Bone Builders classes are held. Bone Builders “is an interactive strength-based exercise program that benefits women and men of all ages. It has been proven to help build strength, maintain bone density, improve balance, coordination, and mobility, reduce the risk of falling, and help to maintain independence in performing activities of daily life.”
Proudly, RiseVT awarded us with the Amplify Grant in the amount of $1,400. We are sincerely thankful for this opportunity. The money was used to support our annual Volunteer Appreciation event, which was held at Jensen’s Restaurant, weights that we provide for our Bennington County Bone Builders classes, as well as the most recent training we held for our Bone Builders Leaders at the Bennington Senior Center.
Thank you Andrea for all of your help with the grant application process and for also being part of our Volunteer Appreciation event. Thank you to the RiseVT statewide team for your consideration and support.
