Republican majority afraid of a wimp

“Bully” and “wimp” are synonyms.

The wimp that is Trump hides behind a chest-thumping bully paper facade and too many Republicans are afraid to rip it off. Trump exploits their fear with threats of ending their political lives if they speak truth to his lies.

When I was in junior high school I was bullied by this “tough” kid until I finally had enough and punched him square in the nose. He ran away from me crying like I was some kind of grizzly bear. Wimp exposed.

Trump is no different. Liz knows it. Adam knows it. Mitt knows it.

But as long as the cowardly majority of Republicans think his gilded paper tiger facade is real, he will continue to rule the corridors of Congress with threats to anyone who crosses him.

If he wasn’t so dangerous to our democracy, it would be hilarious to watch these goose-stepping sycophants on parade parroting his obviously deranged rants.

No late sports stories, scores

Reading your newspaper online Monday morning, it was disappointing to see that the sports article about the PGA Championship covered what Phil Mickelson did on Saturday. His win on Sunday at the age of 50 was one for the ages on one of the toughest golf courses in the world against the toughest of competitors, many of who were 20-25 years younger.

Unfortunately, the tournament ended about 7 p.m. I also note that the East Coast baseball games that ended Sunday afternoon are reported but baseball games that end later are reported as “late” games like they were played on the West Coast. Sunday evening’s game between the Orioles and Nationals was reported as “late.” What I have figured out is that if a sporting event ends after 4 p.m. or so, the result will not be in the paper the next day. Why bother? By then, we will have read about it on Google News or elsewhere that keeps revising their pages as time progresses.

The only reason I continue to subscribe to your online edition is that the Letters to the Editor are sometimes hilarious. Maybe this one is also.

Blacks not oppressed in America

Whoa! There is a professor at FGCU directing a Center for Critical Race Studies! He claims the USA is not a post racial society and to think so is absurd and dangerous thinking. This is a truly astonishing claim because nothing could be further from the truth.

Understand this well. In the USA there is not a single law or ordinance that can be classified as racist. The notion that Blacks in America are oppressed by whites is a complete lie! Blacks enjoy special rights, privileges and advantages unavailable to whites.

A system of racial privileges for Blacks was forced on schools, universities, employers, and the population in general. Less qualified Blacks were given preference in admissions, employment and promotions.

Rather than listen to a racial justice opportunist professor, whites should be praised and celebrated for their unprecedented example of racial goodwill.

GOP craziness destroying country

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene proves that being too crazy is not disqualifying for the Republican Party. She accused Speaker Pelosi of not caring about people’s safety after the speaker refused to eliminate the mask mandate on the chamber floor. Pelosi’s reason: more than 100 Republicans in the House won’t disclose their vaccine status. Because of their selfishness, the mask mandate was kept in place — to keep people safe.

Greene compared Pelosi’s decision to steps Nazis took to control the Jewish population during the Holocaust by requiring Jews to wear a gold star. I’m waiting for Minority Leader McCarthy to expel her from the conference, oppose her re-election, or urge her to resign. None of that has happened. Greene is acceptable while Representative Liz Cheney, who voted to convict former President Trump, is an anathema.

It’s just another day in the GOP: Matt Gaetz is under investigation for possible sex trafficking, the former president has been accused of rape and sexual assault by multiple women, Ted Cruz calls our service personnel pansies, Liz Cheney’s primary challenger is a sex predator, and Michael Flynn calls COVID a conspiracy to divert attention from a stolen election. This is a party that won’t support a commission for

an assault on the Capitol in which many of them could have died. They have no morals, no ethics, no governing principles.

This craziness is destroying our country. It has caused fist fights around dinner tables and friends lost over politics. Republicans, show us you’re better than this.
