Support clean water amendment

“Canal pollution lacking criteria,” (June 10) reports that 21 of 57 Collier County waterbodies don’t meet water quality standards, and, regarding the county’s canals, the state has yet to set any limits on nutrient pollution.

No wonder in “Go after polluters” a letter writer contends that “the state is not doing enough to protect our sea life and our waters. “Where is the commitment to go after polluters, the sources of our toxic waters and death of our sea life?” She wants something done.

But we all know that sometimes, if you want something done, you must do it yourself. That is exactly what a proposed “Right to Clean Water” state constitutional amendment will empower citizens to do.  It would grant all Floridians a legally recognized right to clean water and the ability to take legal action against polluters when government fails us and our waterways. It is modeled after the Orange County Right to Clean Water Charter Amendment that 89 percent of voters approved in November. They granted themselves these rights. Unfortunately, they are the only Floridians with these rights.

We can fix that. Sign the Right to Clean Water petition at FL5.org, because sometimes you simply must do things yourself.

Biden administration will cost you

I see some still think they did a good thing with the election. I have a hard time understanding why. Probably most thought the free money would be good. Or they somehow thought that Biden would have made the virus go away.

I suppose you had your reasons.  But most of your reasons came from the mainstream media. Which everyone with any brain now knows are absolute liars and fabricate truths and create news to suppress the real news.

But now after a few months of this ridiculous administration, you still have the nerve to talk about the last. Do you realize what Biden and crew have done? And are contemplating doing? They killed thousands of jobs, they do nothing bipartisan, they do everything executive action. They are allowing thousands upon thousands of migrants to come in.

What a joke. What a travesty.  Do you realize what this will cost you? Cost your grandchildren?  Do you think the government is so good they just give this money out, from their magical pockets? Guess whose pockets they will get that money from?  Are your pockets that deep?  It’s going to cost YOU forever.

The Democrats have always been willing to give money away, Our money. Now they are giving much more than money. They are giving away your liberty, your freedom, your future and your LIFE. When will you wake up, America?  It is past time for your resurrection. It is time for the eagle to fly. God bless America, please.

Some observations on political scene

More droughts, more hurricanes, more fires, more tornados, more flooding. Maybe we should work on climate change?

Do you think the voters in Wisconsin are proud of Senator Johnson?

Why don’t Republicans want to help anybody?

Whatever happened to Senators Scott and Rubio? Haven’t heard from them or about them in two years!

Are we afraid of immigrants?

School districts need to provide guidelines and paths to success, not controls and restrictions.

Do anti-vaxxers not believe in vaccines until someone dies?

Why oppose new voting rules?

I don’t understand the opposition to having new voting rules. Having a legally issued ID to vote should never be argued against. Ballot harvesting is a very serious issue because ballots can be “lost” or filled out by others than who it is intended for. Checking voting machines for accuracy should not be an issue for anyone.

If there are no issues then the left can say “I told you so.” If issues are found then there is time to get the issues corrected before the next election. This should be a no-brainer for both sides.

Increase impact fee to pay for growth

It appears from your article on the real estate market in Southwest Florida that builders cannot keep up with home buyer demand, buyers from the North are arriving with buckets of money, all available land is getting bulldozed for more home buying. Of course, local residents’ quality of life is spiraling downward as a result.

I then must question. What the heck are our commissioners doing in keeping the impact fee to these overwhelmed builders at a ridiculously low level? This should be the time to reinstate the full fee to supplement infrastructure needs these hoards of new people will require. Raise the fee, they will still come, darn it.
