Lionel Messi has claimed that Barcelona will need the support of their fans when they take on Sevilla in the Copa del Rey.
Barcelona lost 2-0 to Sevilla in the first leg of their quarter-final clash.
Messi was rested for that match but Ernesto Valverde is certain to throw his star man back into the action on Wednesday.
“It will be hard to overturn a 2-0 result against a great team such as Sevilla,” Messi said on Monday.
“We will need our fans as they have very good players and they play very well on the counter-attack.”
Barcelona are currently top of La Liga but will be keen to progress in their pursuit to retain the cup.
Barca are five points above Atletico Madrid in the league table but Messi knows that they cannot afford to relax.
“It is a tight league, both on the top and the bottom, with a few points of difference between them,” he added.
“We will try to carry on in this form and continue collecting points.”
Valverde was criticised for resting Messi for crucial fixtures in recent weeks, but defended his right to select the team.
“I do what I think is best for us and the group. There is talk of rotations when we lose,” Valverde said.
“These things are at the discretion of the coach, who is the one who knows the players best and knows how they are.”
