A man died in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning on Sanibel, according to a release from the Sanibel Police Department.

Police, who received an alert from Sirius XM telematics, found a 2020 Toyota Corolla at 3:35 a.m. in the trees near mile marker 3 on Sanibel Captiva Road. The man in his late 30s was pronounced dead by Lee County Emergency Medical Services.

Sanibel police requested assistance from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit, which then took control of the investigation.
