A man numerous people in Bradenton have identified as Adam Johnson of Parrish was captured in a photo being shared on social media carrying the lectern allegedly belonging to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

The alleged U.S. Capitol invader made his way onto the House floor Wednesday after protesters shoved their way inside during a joint session of Congress. Officials including Vice President Mike Pence were certifying the Electoral College presidential votes.

The would-be thief has not officially been identified by authorities, although countless photos of the man taken by a Getty photographer have been shared by Bradenton residents who recognized him as Adam Johnson.

Christian Ziegler, a Sarasota County Commissioner who attended President Donald Trump’s “Save America Rally” that preceded the riot, says the rioters must face justice.

“I think it’s completely inappropriate,” said Ziegler, who is vice chairman of the Florida GOP. “It makes me angry as a party leader. I spend a lot of time away from my family. We are campaigning all the time and a lot of time I’m not home, I’m out recruiting volunteers and making phone calls. It gives a bad name to the cause.”

Ziegler said he has never seen the man at any of the Republican Party events he has hosted.

“He’s not part of our organization,” Ziegler said. “I think it’s disgusting. That lectern belongs to all of us. It’s our property. We’re the ones who paid for it. It’s making a mockery of our government and our institutions.”

An Adam C. Johnson, 36, of Parrish is registered with no party affiliation and listed as an active voter, according to Florida’s voter registration database.

The man pictured with Pelosi’s reading desk was adorned in clothing labeled “Trump,” and pictures on Johnson’s Facebook page, before it was taken down, show him wearing a red “Make America Great Again” hat.
