And it’s now been revealed that the royal pair are assigned code names in their bodyguards’ phones in a bid to fool any potential threats.
Harry and Meghan are currently said to go under the names David Stevens and Davina Scott.
This is so if the aides’ phones fell into the wrong hands, they wouldn’t be able to identify the royal couple.
To keep security tight, the names are changed regularly, a royal source revealed.
The insider told the Daily Star: “If anyone got hold of a phone belonging to a royal aide or security team member, they won’t find Harry Windsor and Meghan’s names in it.
“It is far too risky in the wrong hands. They get given code names but they are changed regularly for obvious reasons.”
However, all the code names for Harry and Meghan do have one thing in common.
The names are all based around the pair’s initials, the source said. As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the prince and his wife have the initials DS.
Consequently, their code first names will begin with D and their code surnames begin with S.
The royal source explained that the fake names sometimes led to confusion when members of the security team passed the phone to someone else and they didn’t realise who they were speaking to when they first saw the code name on the screen.
The same security rule goes for Prince William, 36, and Kate Middleton, 36, when it comes to their codenames in their bodyguards’ phones.
William and Kate are the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge so their initials are DC.
It’s believed that their codenames are Danny Collins and Daphne Clark so as to avoid anyone thinking they were connected to the royal family.
It was recently revealed that Meghan had her own personal MI5 bodyguard on the set of TV show Suits while she was dating Harry, a co-star claimed.
Her then-boyfriend Prince Harry was well aware of the attention Meghan was attracting when their relationship became public and set her up with her own bodyguard.
The MI5 security guard guarded Meghan every day when she was on set, much to the rest of the Suits cast’s disbelief.
Wendell Pierce, who plays Robert Zane, told Extra magazine: “I actually didn’t think it was real, then all of a sudden I turn round and there is a guy from MI5 on set every day.”
“The one thing that was clear [was that] she was extremely happy. She had a glow.
“I knew she was in love. With the whirlwind of publicity and the world of being a royal now, the one thing that’s constant is the fact that I know she loves him.”
It was also reported, that when things became serious with Harry, Meghan’s name was dropped from the Suits filming schedule to protect her privacy and safety.
Last year, a source revealed to US Weekly that it “inarguably boils down to security issues”.
“Information was leaking out of Suits like crazy. As soon as it came out that they were dating, everyone was warned to stop talking or they would be fired,” claimed the source.
