Melania Trump’s press secretary Stephanie Grisham, who often tweets from the First Lady’s Twitter account, has been reprimanded.
Stephanie Grisham was a member of Donald Trump’s presidential transition team.
Now she works on behalf of the First Lady, handling her press.
She has recently come under fire, and has been sent a warning latter from the Office of the Special Counsel, according to CNN.
She tweeted to celebrate her third year working for the US President.
She wrote: “Three years ago today I listened to my gut & joined the Trump team in #PHX…& life has never been the same. So proud to work for both @POTUS @realDonaldTrump & @FLOTUS. #MAGA.”
However, one element of this tweet left her in violation of a law.
She was found to have violated the Hatch Act by using the phrase MAGA in the tweet.
This is because “MAGA”, which stands for Make American Great Again, is a campaign slogan.
What is the Hatch Act?
The Hatch Act was created to prevent White House workers from advocation for certain candidates.
White House officials should remain impartial.
The White House worker told CNN: “Since Day 1, I’ve been proud to work for this President, this first lady, and this administration.”
However, she is only the latest in a number of staff of Donald’s staff who have been warned over the same offence, including Kellyanne Conway.
