The Spice Girls are back and four became one as they took to the stage at Croke Park. Ex[ecatations were high for the long-awaited reunion of Mel C, Mel B, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell (or Horner). Fan reactions have poured onto social media and have concentrated on only two major points. The good news is that the first point is the almost universal praise for the group. The bad news is how many fans are complaining about the terrible sound quality.
Comments included: “Great show but sound terrible in the Cusack Stand. Crowd were the stars!!! Show a bit cynical at times & too much talking, which was inaudible.”
“Writing this tweet is hard because I love the Spice Girls… However, the sound in Croke Park is awful and there is a bigger queue for the toilets then out watching the Spice Girls. Not their fault.”
“Spice Girls at Croke Park gig and the sound is so bad. We can’t hear any of the words up in the stands !!!”
“Spice Girls was amazing. They’re amazing. The crowd was amazing.”
“I have never seen a crowd react to a show like the packed house in Croke Park did to Spice Girls tonight — fantastic show absolutely dripping in joy. Pure positive bubblegum pop like it used to be, on an amazing stage. “
“Right.. life is officially made.. Spice Girls were UNBELIEVABLE, also Jess Glynne was standing behind me most of it too.”
“Fantastic opening show, amazing costumes, amazing set, amazing dancers, n most of all fantastic music.”
Following tonight’s opening night, the tour has a three-day break and no doubt the sound issues will be looked into.
The tour resumes on May 27 in Cardiff and end in London for three nights at Wembley Stadium from June 13-15.
