After the leak landed earlier today, complete with an image of the new logo, news sites and Star Wars fan sites have reacted. The title sounds completely plausible and fits the entire franchise themes of good and evil, and a final resolution. However, overwhelmingly negative responses are not a good sign from the fans. On top of that, there are also two large problems with these four (not three) all-important words. Is this really the title of the final film in the Skywalker saga?
It is now almost universally accepted that there will be no major teaser or trailer release until Star Wars Celebration in April. The title reveal, however, is overdue and already much later than the previous movies in the franchise.
A new post on Reddit claims to have screengrabbed the leaked image of the new title and logo. Redditor longlad2015 revealed the apparent title as “Star Wars: Balance of the Force.”
Yes, the whole saga has been based around the search for the Chosen One to bring balance to the Force. The image included also cleverly uses purple for the wording, symbolising the blend of Sith red and Jedi blue.
However, the leaked title breaks more than one franchise ‘rule.’
Firstly, the Sequel Trilogy seemed to be setting up three-word titles.
On top of that, many are convinced the three film titles will create a complete sentence. For this to work, this new title would have to be tweaked at the very least to something like: “The Force Awakens The Last Jedi To Balance The Force.”
Secondly, fellow Redditor yourladym already pointed out that Balance of the Force is already the name of a Star Wars pinball game. It seems highly unlikely the filmmakers will use a pre-existing title.

The third problem is that Star Wars fans already hate the new potential title.
Comments included: “Thanks. I hate it.” “That’s a terrible title if true.” “That does not flow off the tongue at all.” “The last one was a bad movie with a cool name. Hopefully, this is a good movie with a stupid name.”
However, discord and backlashes are nothing new in the galaxy of Star Wars fandom. One amusing commentator even suggested the title might reflect a new balance among the comments.
Either way, it seems very likely everyone will be put out of their misery with an official announcement soon. And then all the arguing can start again…
