Sunday morning crash of two vans on Daniels Parkway leaves 92-year-old with serious injury 1

A crash Sunday morning on Daniels Parkway at Six Mile Cypress Parkway seriously injured a 92-year-old woman from Lehigh Acres.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash happened shortly after 4 a.m.

Troopers said a van driven by a 44-year-old woman from Lehigh Acres was westbound on Daniels in the inside lane.

A second vehicle, also a van, driven by a 30-year-od man from Fort Myers, was also westbound on Daniels in the inside lane, in front of the first van.

The driver of the first van failed to maintain a safe following distance and collided with the rear of the second van.

The 92-year-old woman, a passenger in the first van, was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. The drivers of the two vans were not injured.

Troopers are investigating.
