UFC news: Huge Conor McGregor vs Khabib development, defiant Darren Till statement | UFC | Sport

UFC News – Conor McGregor to come face-to-face with Khabib Nurmagomedov next Thursday

Conor McGregor will square off with Khabib Nurmagomedov at a press conference before their UFC 229 grudge match.

McGregor’s first encounter with his successor at the summit of the lightweight division since his antics at the UFC 223 media day, where he threw a dolly through the window of a bus carrying Nurmagomedov and a number of his fellow fighters, will take place at the Radio City Music Hall in New York next Thursday.

The press conference will get underway at 10pm BST time (5:00pm ET / 3:00 PT).

Fans hoping to get a glimpse of the pair in person won’t be able to do so as the event is only open to members of the media.

UFC News – Darren Till claim

Darren Till’s nutritionist Eoghan Gallagher has insisted ‘The Gorilla’ can continue to compete in the welterweight division for ‘years to come.’

“[The weight cut] did go extremely well in the end,” Gallagher told Peter Carroll on the latest episode of the Eurobash podcast.

“I was very confident [he would make weight] and I think he can make 170 with ease for years to come, it’s just all about what his preference is moving forward.”

He added: “We are absolutely confident that when you put in a system that looks to achieve goals over a certain period of time and don’t leave everything to the last minute, like a lot of people do, [Till can make the weight].

“I only got to work with Darren [for a short period of time]. I met him and 20 days later he was 169 pounds, which was significantly less than what I got him at.”

UFC News – Colby Covington slams Darren Till

Former interim welterweight champion Colby Covington has claimed Till is ‘overrated’ following his UFC 228 loss to Tyron Woodley.

“Till’s just an overrated doughboy that had a whole lot of hype,” Covington told MMA Fighting.

“He talked the talk, but he couldn’t walk the walk like me so he needs to leave it to the big boys.

“He beat a crippled old ‘Clownboy’ and got a gift in his hometown against the ‘Choirboy’.

“He should have never been rewarded with a title shot for missing weight in a third of his UFC fights.

“Good thing he neglected his family to land a hot zero significant strikes in two rounds.”
